For this year, we decided not to make New Year’s Resolutions. Instead, we decided to choose themes for the year! These themes would set the tone and guide us through 2021, instead of us making lofty resolutions and giving up after a couple weeks or so. Jo picked “consistency,” and Grace picked “happiness.”
In 2020, neither of us were very focused on our health and fitness. We worked out less than we ever have, and we didn’t eat foods that were nourishing for us. We truly want to refocus on our health this year, and we’re excited to be partnering with OLLY to do just that. We love that OLLY has so many different products that help support our health from the inside out! So, here’s what we’re doing differently this year!
Jo’s New Year’s Theme: Consistency
Workouts
Last year, I worked out a handful of times total after gyms and fitness studios closed. This year my goal is to be more consistent with my workouts, even if that means working out just 3 times per week.
Grace & I finally created a small workout space for us at home with weights, a spin bike, and a punching bag. I’ve also been doing the Beachbody 10 Rounds program, which we both started earlier this month.
Sleep
I didn’t always sleep too well last year. I would have trouble falling and staying asleep, but I know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep. To improve my sleep, I’m using a sleep eye mask and adding a calming lavender mist to my pillow. I’m also keeping my OLLY Sleep Gummies next to my bed, since they help me fall asleep faster.
Eating
Last year, I didn’t eat as healthy as I normally did, and I ate very irregularly too. I skipped a lot of lunches by accident, and instead of eating nourishing foods, I had a lot of snacks and comfort food. While I’m not trying to completely change and eat “healthy” only, my goal is to be more consistent with healthier options and keep a balanced diet.
We’ve been keeping healthier foods in our fridge I can easily grab and eat like salads and fruits. I’ve also been taking OLLY Women’s Multi to make sure I get all my essential nutrients daily.
Grace’s New Year’s Theme: Happiness
Unplugging
One thing I’ve noticed is that I have a lot of trouble unplugging. At night, I’ll keep answering texts and emails in bed. So, this year, I’m trying to utilize the “Do Not Disturb” function more on my phone to help me unplug.
At night, I have it automatically set to turn on before I go to bed, and it stays on until 6:45 am, when I wake up. I’ve also been adding OLLY Goodbye Stress Gummies with GABA and L-theanine to help keep me calm and collected.
Workouts
Last year, I had trouble getting into a regular routine after gyms closed. I tried a variety from running outside to different at-home workout programs. But a lot of times, even though I hated the workout, I did it just because I felt like I needed to work out.
So, this year, instead of doing workouts I don’t like, I’m planning on doing workouts that make me happy or that my body wants! Jo and I started doing a 6-week boxing program, which has been so much fun. I’ve also still been going to SoulCycle, and we even upgraded our spin bike at home. I’m excited to do at-home spin classes! So, I’ve been adding OLLY Active Immunity + Elderberry as well to ensure that my immune system stays supported, so I can continue doing workouts that bring my joy.
Self-Care
My form of self-care is to take walks with our dog Gigi and listen to podcasts. We usually walk around our neighborhood for about an hour, and last year, this helped so much with my anxiety. But toward the end of the year, we stopped going on our regular walks, so I’m planning on doing this again!
