Whether gyms have reopened where you’re living or whether you’ve been vaccinated or not, face masks aren’t going anywhere for a while. After almost a year of testing out different masks while working out, here are our favorite face masks for working out, along with their pros and cons for each!
Adidas
Rating: 5/5
Pros: Moisture wicking, breathable, well-fitted
Cons: Runs a little tight around the ears but stretches out over time
Price: $20/3 pack
Reebok
Price:Rating: 5/5
Pros: Moisture wicking, breathable, well-fitted
Cons: Runs a little tight around the ears but stretches out over time
Price: $20/3 pack
These are EXACTLY the same as the Adidas mask from what we can see, just with a different logo.
Under Armour
Rating: 2/5
Pros: Water resistant, great for high-intensity workouts
Cons: Expensive, too thick, seems like they’re made more for athletes than regular gym goers
Price: $30
These are incredibly well-made masks. They have a cooling technology that keeps it from getting too hot inside the mask. This only seems to work if you keep the mask on the whole time. If you remove it to sip water, it seems to get hot again. They do feel really thick though and are quite pricey, so it might be great for a professional athlete, but not necessary for the average person.
Enro
Rating: 5/5
Pros: Lightweight, breathable, water-repellant outer layer
Cons: None
Price: $16.50 (Use code JOANNAGRACE for 10% off.)
Honestly, these are one of our favorite masks for working out. They’re light, breathable, and comfortable. They even have different sizes, so you can ensure a proper fit.
Pro tip: add an Aerolite, a lightweight silicone mask frame, under your mask. It makes it even more breathable. You may need to adjust a little if you are doing anything plyometric, but even through an hour-long tennis session and a SoulCycle class, it stayed in place since the mask will keep it on.
Disposable mask
Rating: 4/5
Pros: Most breathable
Cons: Not environmentally friendly, not moisture wicking
Price: Ranges
Disposable masks are really breathable and easy to use. But your sweat will pool up in it. Also remember to pull the straps off to prevent birds and other animals from getting caught in them!
