We both love working out. It’s in our blog name. But we know sometimes you’re in a rush after to head to work or to happy hour with your friend. Instead of skipping out on your workout because you don’t have enough time, we’ve put together a quick plan to get ready in about 15 minutes at the gym!
Step #1: Do your research & plan!
First, pick the right workout. If you know you’re really pressed for time and want to spend a little more time on your makeup or hair, maybe pick a less sweaty workout like a pilates class instead of a SoulCycle class!
Also, remember to do your research on your gym/studio to see what they offer. Do they have showers? What kind of toiletries do they have? See what you need to pack and what you can use!
ALWAYS make sure to pack your bag of everything you need.
Here’s our gym bag checklist:
Workout
- Workout clothes: We love cute, matching sets like this sports bra with these leggings!
- Socks
- Sneakers: We love APL sneakers for a group fitness class.
- Water bottle: We carry our Hydro Flask water bottle everywhere. Don’t forget the straw lid! It’s a game changer for workout classes.
- Headphones: If you’re going to the gym to do your own workout
- Hair tie: We love these Invisibobbles since they cause less breakage.
Toiletries
- Dry shampoo: We love NYM dry shampoo.
- Hair brush
- Body wipe: If there’s no time to shower, always use a body wipe.
- Deodorant
- Face wash: We love Dermalogica cleansers!
- Toner
- Moisturizer: This Dermalogica moisturizer is seriously amazing.
- Sunscreen: Supergoop sunscreen is the best. It’s light, doesn’t leave your skin oily, and works as a primer.
- Eye cream: Our favorite is from Algenist.
- Eye shadow
- Eyeliner
- Foundation/CC cream
Clothes to Change Into
- Top / Bottoms / Dress
- Bra & underwear
- Shoes
Step #2: Shower FAST
HUGE tip – hit the showers BEFORE stretch in a group fitness class!
While studios like Barry’s Bootcamp and SoulCycle have amazing Oribe and Le Labo products, this is NOT the time to wash your hair, do a hair mask, and shave your legs. Rinse off really quickly, or if the showers are super busy, use a body wipe! Our go-to body wipe is Good Wipes.
Step #3: Dry shampoo
Since we know we’re definitely not washing our hair, we always use dry shampoo. Our favorite dry shampoo is NYM. It doesn’t leave a white residue on your hair, and it makes your hair smell so clean and fresh. Watch our quick tutorial on how to best use your dry shampoo for post-gym hair!
Step #4: Stick to the essentials for makeup
Think about what your absolute musts for makeup are. What can you not leave the house with? For us, our skincare routine matters more than our makeup, so we like to minimize our makeup routine to about 5 minutes.
For Joanna, that means a simple, neutral eyeshadow, but always a winged liner. For Grace, that means eyeliner, magnetic lashes, and a quick sweep of a CC cream.
You can add a bright lipstick, blush, or highlighter later on!
Step #5: Put on your outfit
We like to keep our outfits simple and easy to throw on. It’s so hard to put on pants or anything really tight, especially after a hard workout. So right now, we’re loving pairing a graphic tee with a skirt! You can dress it up with heels and some jewelry, or keep it casual with some boots or sneakers.
Jo is wearing this graphic tee, cut up. Grace is wearing this graphic tee, tied up. Some other similar ones are: 1, 2, 3. We love that you can style these tees in so many ways. You can tie them, tuck them in, or wear them loose and oversized.
We both paired our tees with a mini red skirt and long blue skirt. But you can pair them with some cute, cropped jeans or even over a dress.
