Since we love to workout and are fitness bloggers, we have far too many workout clothes. We spend more time in leggings than in regular pants. We recently counted how many leggings we have, and we have 171 between the two of us! So, here’s how we organize our workout clothes in our closets and drawers.
1. Sort through your workout clothes.
Take out all your workout clothes and lay them on a surface. Then go through each item and sort into 3 piles: keep, sell, or donate. Keep anything you love and wear often but isn’t too worn out. Sell anything in good condition that you don’t love. Donate anything worn out / stained / torn.
You can sell workout clothes on sites like Poshmark, Depop, and eBay. We’ve also sent them to ThredUp before, but they payout the least. We’ll either donate clothes to Goodwill, find recycling programs, or use the clothes as rags around the house.
2. Find a space for your clothes.
Evaluate the space for your workout clothes. If you’re limited on drawer space, hang your workout clothes.
We have dedicated drawers and space in our closets for our workout clothes. We prefer our leggings & sports bras in drawers and to hang our workout tops & jackets.
Find a space that works best for you.
3. Fold your workout clothes properly.

4. Place them into your drawers by color or wear.
We like to sort our leggings first by use – ones we workout in and ones we only use for shoots. Then we sort them by color. Then within each color, we sort them by length.
5. Use drawer dividers.
Drawer dividers and organizers make a huge difference.
We use drawer dividers (we like this one or this one depending on the height of the drawer) to keep our workout clothes from falling over and keep them as organized as possible.
6. Maintain!
After organizing your clothes, it’s important to keep this up! Keep your clothes organized, so you don’t have to do a huge clean out again. But remember to regularly re-evaluate the clothes you do have to make sure you’re keeping clothes you wear and love. If your drawers are bursting open, it’s definitely time to do another clean-out.
