This past weekend (May 5-6) I attended Propel Co:Labs Fitness Festival in West Hollywood, CA at the Quixote Studios. It’s basically Coachella…but for workouts. Not only are there tons of workouts from different trainers all around the country, but there are also music performances by artists like Ludacris and Icona Pop.
Workouts
I think the best part of the fitness festival is that I get to try different workouts I don’t normally get the chance to.
For example, I’ve always wanted to try Akin’s Army. I’ve taken a few of Akin’s Soul Cycle classes, but I never had a chance to take his bootcamp class in New York. I was so excited to be able to take his class while he was here. It definitely did not disappoint. It was just amazing to experience it (even though I was struggling so hard) and to see his regulars demonstrate the moves. It makes me want to work harder to get to that level of fitness and that higher standard.
I also don’t get the chance to take all classes I want to in LA. So it was really great to be in a class with Luke Milton of Training Mate. If you haven’t taken a class with him or at Training Mate, you need to. (Click here to read why.) They are hilarious and so much fun, but they’ll also make you work harder than you ever have. I don’t think I’ve done more burpees in my life in one class…
The worst part of is…NOT HAVING ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE EVERYTHING! If my body could handle it and if time permitted, I think I would have tried every class. I really wanted to try Tone House, Fhitting Room, and Gunnar Peterson’s workout.
I was also really sad to have missed out on Icona Pop’s and Ludacris’s performances. But I saw a ton of Instagram videos and stories, and it looked INSANELY fun. Definitely can’t miss out on the headliners next year!
Space
Propel did an amazing job of putting together such a fun space! Not only were there great spots to take tons of photos, but there were also massages and foam rollers from Hyperice (the best foam rollers ever!!).
I also probably ate like 5 Dream Pops over the weekend. It was so hot, so I kept grabbing a Dream Pop and a cold Propel to keep me cool.
The best part definitely was having an unlimited amount of Propel to keep you going through the weekend. It was so hot outside and so hot inside the studios while we were working out, so everyone was definitely working up a sweat.
I definitely would recommend going to the other Propel Co:Labs Fitness Festival events if you live in or near Miami, Chicago, or New York! It’s just such a fun way to experience different classes and meet people who love to workout as much as you do. I know I kept running into friends all weekend, whether I knew them from social media or from workout classes.
