WE DID IT! We each completed 20 classes in 30 days for SoulTogether, the Soul Cycle challenge.
SoulTogether
SoulTogether was a 30-day challenge from SoulCycle from April 17 – May 16. Every bike booked was counted toward a donation to SoulCycle’s non-profit program for underserved teens, SoulScholars.
Grace’s Experience
I’ve done SoulCycle’s challenge before (previously called Turn It Up) and rode 20 times in 30 days. So, I knew this would be challenging but doable!
I felt so much stronger during this challenge than I did before. Not only was I able to complete the 20 classes, but I also continued to train with my personal trainer, took a couple Barry’s Bootcamp classes, and attended Propel Co:Labs Fitness Festival! It was important to me to keep cross-training.
I took most of my classes with my absolute favorite instructor, David Zint (check out our blog post on why we love him so much). If you haven’t taken a class with David yet, WHY? I absolutely LOVE his SoulActivate class. P.S. If you walk into his Activate class and see THREE numbers on the mirror, it’s going to be a really hard one, but you’ll feel AMAZING after!
But the best part of this challenge for me was spinning with Akin, a NYC instructor! He taught a few classes while he was in LA, and thankfully, I was able to grab bikes in 3 of his classes. I’ve taken a couple of his classes before when he was in LA last year and once when I was in NYC. His classes are so difficult, but AMAZING. It’s also such an experience watching him and his regulars ride. They all move so fluidly through the very different and difficult choreography. If you don’t get what I’m talking about, check out his Instagram to see his videos.
Joanna’s Experience
Unlike Grace, this was my first SoulCycle 30-day challenge. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to finish the challenge because I was out of town for a week, but with strategic planning and lots of doubles, I did it!
Everyone knows David is our favorite instructor, but there’s no way I could have taken all 20 classes with him. His sprints are fast and when I do too much cardio, my left hip starts bothering me. I had to try out new instructors and fell in love with Edward and Madison‘s classes. They both teach at Beverly Hills Tuesday and Thursday mornings so I would often double. It was the perfect combination, because Edward’s class is super heavy on the resistance and Madison’s class is a faster pace.
The best part of this challenge for me was doubling Ross’ class in Pasadena for our friend, Fred’s birthday. Birthday rides are always fun, but this one was especially fun because of the energy and our friends showing up.
